A guide to testing the priority alignment of elements in your content

🔍 What Is Priority Alignment?

Priority Alignment allows you to set the desired order of importance for key elements in your creative. Studio 3 compares your intended priority order with the predicted viewer experience, generating a clear Priority Score.

This score is integrated into Digestibility, helping you understand how effectively your content communicates key information.

Priority Alignment builds on the success of Studio 2's Visual Hierarchy, delivering sharper actionable insight into how visual elements compete for attention.


⚙️ How It Works

1. Run Your Analysis
Upload your creative and allow Studio 3 to define Areas of Interest (AOIs) automatically. Then navigate to the 'Set Priorities' panel.

2. Set Your Priority Order
In the Priorities panel, drag each AOI into the preferred priority bucket, based upon your intended order of importance.

You can assign multiple AOIs to the same priority level and also leave areas unranked - they’ll still be included, but assigned the lowest priority.

3. Review Your Alignment
Studio 3 will score each image depending how closely the intended priority matches the predicted experience.

A high Priority alignment score means that your elements work as intended, whereas the low Priority alignment score means that your elements are not seen in the order that you intended.


📊 Priority alignment score

The Priority alignment score compares the priorities you’ve set for your elements against the element gaze path rank order. The rank order is established through our biologically inspired algorithm. It predicts the order in which AOIs would typically be fixated by a group of people viewing the image (around 30), generating a fixation sequence that reflects the average viewing pattern.

Individual AOI alignment

You can also review each individual AOI alignment by going to an In-depth Digestibility report. Simply go to Priority alignment (PA) tab and look out for the AOI list. Next to each AOI there is a circle with 'traffic light' colours to help you understand the AOI alignment:

🟢 Aligned - the element was viewed in the same priority as it was intended.

🟠 Underperforming - the element received less attention than intended.

🟠 Overperforming - the element received more attention than intended.

🔴 Misaligned - the element received far less attention than intended.

🔴 Misaligned - the element received much more attention than intended.

In attention-limited environments, making sure the right elements are noticed first is crucial. When comparing multiple design variations, use Priority Alignment to determine which delivers your message the best. Whether you're working on:
