In Grid mode, a grid is overlaid on top of the content and the cells with the 5 highest scores (i.e. the 5 most attention grabbing cells) are highlighted with the associated score displayed in the centre of each cell. In addition, the cells representing the median score for that piece of content are also highlighted with the associated scores displayed in the centre of each cell.
All cells are scored between 0-100 with 100 being the highest saliency score. Individual cell scores are calculated as an average compared to the entire image. The cell size can be set to small, medium or large.
We recommend adjusting the size based on the actual distance between your content and intended audience. For example, if you wish to see how a billboard is seen from far away, use the large grid size but if you're measuring the attention a product is getting on shelf, you may prefer to use the small grid size.
Tip: it is also possible to click individual cells to view its score. This allows you to analyse specific areas in comparison to the scene average and highly salient areas.
Similarly, you can click the vertical ellipsis in the corner of the image and select all to display the score of every cell on the grid.
Tip: When working in Grid mode, in addition to identifying the most and least attention grabbing areas, you should also take note of the difference between the highest scoring cells and the median score for the content as a whole. Larger gaps between the two scores indicate a greater level of clarity in the design as high performing regions are drawing more attention relative to the rest of the design.
